Lucy

So I am finally going to get the horrible picture of me and my pregnant belly off of the front page of our blog and replace it with something so cute you won’t be able to help yourself!  Little Lucy Ruth Bainbridge was born on May 22.  Everything went smoothly, and the delivery was surprisingly short and uncomplicated.  One of the nurses said to me “Looks like you’re made for child birth!”  Ha ha ha…so I guess that’s one of my hidden talents I didn’t know about.

Lucy was so small when she was born (6 lbs. 2 oz.) and so cute!  I just can’t get enough of her! It’s incredible, as a new mother, how amazing it is that this little person was inside you for so long.  She used to get hiccups all the time while I was pregnant with her, and she still does!  The feelings and emotions you have when you hold your little child for the first time are indescribably powerful and there’s such an instant connection.  I LOVE being a mom!

Little Lucy has a full head of dark hair (Like her daddy) and beautiful big blue eyes (like her mommy), which have only gotten more intense as she’s grown, so I think they will stay blue.  She is now a month and a half and she is so cute!  She responds to us now with a huge smile that seriously makes my day.

I remember one night I woke up to feed her.  It was 2 in the morning and I was exhausted and a little frustrated as I went to change her diaper when all of the sudden she just burst out into a huge smile!  It totally made me feel better.  Her eyes are so smiley!

She is currently mastering holding her head up.  She is a strong little gal.  It’s so funny when you message her little legs she stiffens them and flexes her little thigh muscles!  Perhaps she will be a runner like her mom… or a soccer player like her aunt.  Joe is determined he is going to teach her to swim early, so maybe she’ll be a little surfer like her dad.  It’s amazing to think that this little child has so much potential, and it’s a little scary to think that you, as a parent, have so much influence on them, however, I’m discovering that being a parent is a learning process for both the parent and the child.

Grandpa

What a cute little tyke! No, I'm not a proud Grandpa. Think how fun it will be when she's got a normal schedule and you can plan things and get a good nights sleep. I wish we all lived closer so we could get together every week.

Love Dad/Grandpa
